What Is MFA?
Multi-factor authentication is a method of verifying your identity. It adds a second layer of security in addition to your account password. You can use a One Time Password (OTP) sent to your mobile, an auto-generated code, or biometric verification. MFA helps to prevent unauthorised access to your accounts, even if your password was to be compromised. By needing the extra verification, each sign-in on an unrecognised device or from an unknown location will need approval by yourself.

The significance of MFA is more important than ever. Criminals are hungry for passwords, as they have substantial monetary value. Stories are constantly developing in the media about high profile data breaches and password leaks, leaving thousands of accounts vulnerable to being accessed by cyber criminals. Using MFA will give you peace of mind as you can deny any attempts to access your account that are not your own.
A Few Tips:
- Do not use the same password across multiple accounts
- Make sure your user passwords are minimum 8 characters long
- Be sure to use a unique combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, symbols and numbers
- Don’t use personal information such as birth dates, addresses or phone numbers in your passwords.
- Use a Password Manager
- Analyse emails for mistakes that could point out if they’re a phishing email
