With the recent flurry of information to move everyone away from Windows XP. The Law Society has made its position clear. You can’t store data on a system that is not FIPS compliant. And now that Windows XP is not supported by Microsoft, it is not FIPS compliant.
FIPS compliance basically sets the standard for PC security and encryption. If it’s not FIPS compliant you shouldn’t use it to store any information.
